October 8, 2011 Potomac River

Because of a Triathlon event closing Smallwood Park and potentially causing a parking problem at Nanjemoy, the Ratz made the decision to launch from Leesylvania Park.

Four boats launched from Leesylvania to fish the 6th club tournament in the Potomac under sunny skies.  The water was stained with a temperature of 65 deg.  All anglers fishing the open boundary tournament caught fish.  Tom and Dan made the attempt to travel to Aquia, but a failure in Tom’s motor curtailed his trip.  They ended up trolling their way back to the ramp, and on the way Tom caught a limit while a relieved Dan caught his one bass in the final moments of the tournament.  William and Gary crossed the bay to Mattawoman and found their limits there.  William edged Gary for a close 2nd place finish at the weigh in.  Although both fast and slow fishing produced fish, the spinnerbait bite won the tournament and lunker for Tom, bringing 12.28 pounds to the scales.
